Cognitive-Behavioral SKILLS Group for New Moms
This group is for pregnant and postpartum women who are navigating the emotional adjustment to motherhood.
Group members will gain new coping skills to manage their thoughts, emotions and daily stressors using techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Moms will learn therapeutic strategies to manage their anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed in this delicate season of life.
Group format will provide an opportunity to connect with other mothers going through a similar experience and specific themes common in new motherhood will be addressed (sleep, feeding, schedules/routines, isolation vs. building community, communicating needs/boundaries, mom guilt, transition back to work, etc).
Why CBT?
Studies show evidence-based treatments like CBT and ACT have shown favorable results in alleviating symptoms of anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties in pregnancy & postpartum.
