Orlando, FL - The 2023 NAMI Florida Annual Conference will feature a workshop by Dr. Gwilym Roddick on Friday, September 15th at 11:15am entitled, “What Kind of Therapy Should I Really Be Getting?”
Today’s mental health system is significantly difficult to navigate. Individuals seeking help and their families repeatedly do not know where or who to seek to find the most appropriate care and often go through multiple providers and treatment centers before finding the most helpful form of psychotherapy.
This workshop will disseminate knowledge to individuals and families, practitioners and other healthcare workers, on:
How to find the most helpful therapist
What are evidenced-based practices and the most common issues addressed
How to navigate available resources and directories to find a provider
How to interview a therapist to find the right fit
How to identify barriers to care and limitations to evidence-based treatment modalities.
Dr. Gwilym Roddick received his graduate degrees from Columbia and Rutgers Universities and is the Founder & Director of CBT Central & South Florida. He stated, “People always ask me where to start. How do I find the right therapist? What treatment is going to work best for me? None of this should be a mystery or lead to delays in accessing care. My goal is for individuals and their families to leave feeling empowered, after gaining the tools to confidently navigate the rocky terrain of one area of mental health services.”
