At CBT Alliance of Florida, we believe that high-quality, evidence-based mental health care must be inclusive, accessible, culturally responsive, and grounded in respect for the dignity and lived experiences of all people.
We are committed to fostering a professional community that welcomes clinicians, students, educators, researchers, and advocates from diverse backgrounds, identities, perspectives, and disciplines. We recognize that diversity strengthens our field, enhances clinical care, and promotes innovation, collaboration, and meaningful learning.
The CBT Alliance of Florida values and affirms individuals of all races, ethnicities, cultures, national origins, immigration statuses, religions, spiritual beliefs, genders, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, ages, body sizes, abilities, neurotypes, socioeconomic backgrounds, and family structures. We are dedicated to creating spaces where members and the communities they serve feel respected, represented, and supported.
As an organization grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and related evidence-based approaches, we acknowledge the importance of continually examining how systemic inequities, discrimination, stigma, and barriers to care impact mental health outcomes. We strive to promote ongoing education, self-reflection, humility, and accountability within our professional community.
Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility extends to:
Expanding access to evidence-based mental health education and resources
Supporting culturally responsive and affirming clinical practices
Encouraging diverse voices and leadership within the Alliance
Promoting accessibility in programming, mentorship, and professional development
Building collaborative relationships that strengthen mental health care across Florida’s communities
We recognize that this work is ongoing. The CBT Alliance of Florida remains committed to cultivating a community where all members can learn, grow, contribute, and belong.
Statement on Conversion Therapy
At CBT Alliance of Florida, we are committed to ethical, evidence-based, and affirming mental health care for all individuals. We oppose conversion therapy and any practices that attempt to change, suppress, or pathologize a person’s sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
Conversion therapy has been widely discredited by leading medical and mental health organizations due to the significant psychological harm it can cause. These practices are inconsistent with ethical and evidence-based standards of care.
We believe mental health treatment should promote authenticity, self-understanding, resilience, and well-being. We affirm and support LGBTQIA+ individuals and are committed to fostering compassionate, culturally responsive, and identity-affirming clinical care.
The CBT Alliance of Florida is dedicated to upholding dignity, safety, inclusion, and respect for all people.
